The nominees for the 2008 Kevin Kline Awards were announced Friday at 11am CST live on the KWMU radio show Cityscapes hosted by Stephen Potter. Announcing the nominees were Steve Isom, Executive Director of the Professional Theatre Awards Council, Charlie Robin, Executive Director of the Edison Theatre Ovations Series and Nicole Hollway, CEO of 3rd Row Center.
Some notable statistics*:
- 25 professional theatre companies were represented in the 2008 nomination list (up from 17 in 2006 and 18 in 2007)
- Mustard Seed Theatre, new to St. Louis this year, received 6 nominations evenly split between technical, performance and production team categories
- Both New Jewish Theatre and Orange Girls had nominations representing 3 shows each - over half and their entire seasons respectively.
